Career Counseling
Career counseling typically addresses the following stages of career development:
- Assessment: what are my skills, values, interests, and personality/work style?
- Exploration: what options do I have?
- Goal Setting and Planning: which option is the best fit for me, what is my goal, and why is this the best goal for me?
- Strategy: how will I achieve my goal, what specific behaviors will I engage in to get there, when will each step occur?
Career Testing
Self-knowledge is the first step to achieving career goals. Individual counseling, combined with occupational and personality testing, can help you identify personality strengths, pinpoint interests, clarify values, identify skills and accomplishments, and answer questions such as, what do I want to be committed to in my career and how do I get there?
Assessments selected are based on years of empirical research and some of the most widely used in career planning. Results will be interpreted in a way that is meaningful to you in pursuing your career goals.
Career testing may include the use of one of the following instruments:
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
- Strong Interest Inventory
- Birkman Method
